Max - Adoption Pending!

Color:  Red
Coat:  Smooth
Age: 21 months
Sex:  Male
Size:  11 pounds

The first thing people need to know about Max is that he is a very high energy dog.  He runs everywhere.  He jumps on furniture with ease without checking what or who may be up there.  Because he’s so active, he is very thin.  He was just recently neutered so hopefully he will put on weight soon.  He eats ravenously but then sometimes just skips a meal.  I have fed him more than the other dogs and added a high fat supplement to his food to try to put some weight on him.  He could not eat the morning he was neutered, wasn't interested in eating when he came home or the next morning.  So whatever weight he may have gained, he lost.  People would think I’m starving this poor dog.  I am not!  The weight will come on eventually if he ever slows down.

Max loves to play with balls and all kinds of toys.  Toys in his life are a must.  He loves to play fetch and you can throw a ball or a toy for him all day and he’ll never stop.

Max is shy of new people and takes a while to trust.  If you want to pick him up, it takes several tries before he will let you.

Max needs socialization and now that he’s neutered, I plan to take him on more walks which he thoroughly enjoys.  He gets along with my dogs although he bugs them to play and they are not interested. My dogs are seniors and do not want to run around with a speed demon.  If they get tired of him, they snap at him and he backs off.  I feel Max would be so happy in a home with a small playful young dog of his energy level to wear him out.

Max usually finishes his meals before the other dogs but never bothers the others or their food.
Max does bark at the neighbors dogs when he can see them and barks if there is a reason to bark.  For this reason and the fact that he is so high energy and runs around the back yard, he would not do well in an apartment.  He uses the doggie door in and out all day long.

Max sleeps in a crate at night.  Give him his treat and he goes right in and is quiet for the night.  He must be taken out first thing  in the morning so he will potty outside.  The negative thing about Max is he is not completely housebroken.  I do have another doxie that marks so that has not made things easy to house brake him. Max needs a home with kind loving people who will not yell or scold him for peeing in the house, but a family who will teach him with positive corrections.  I don’t want Max to go to a home where the family cannot tolerate his mistakes and return him.  Getting bounced around from home to home is not what he needs.

Max is neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped.

For more information on Max, feel free to email me at doxiekeeper@gmail.com or call 661 943-4888.

An approved application is required for Max’s adoption.

The tax deductible adoption donation for Max is $450 to cover the expenses I’ve spent to get him ready for his new home.
