Georgia

Coat:  Smooth
Age:  BD 12/14/23
Sex:  Female spayed
Size:  14 pounds

Georgia is a very sweet young female who is very shy at first.  She came from a hectic environment, so it takes her a while to trust.  Georgia may have had a bad experience with a male because she can be fearful of men.  However, Georgia was in a foster home with a male and although it took her a little while to warm up, eventually he was able to pet her and she would sit next to him.  Georgia would be fine in a female only home or a home where the male is kind and patient with her.  She definitely needs time to warm up to a man.

Georgia is a bit insecure due to her original home where things were pretty hectic, lots of dogs, barking and sometimes fighting.  However, Georgia will be best in home with another dog or 2 to build her confidence.  She is now in a foster home with multiple calm friendly dogs and it has allowed her to relax and understand there is nothing to fear.

Georgia started out not being housebroken but now she has taught herself to use both doggie doors, starting with letting herself back inside and a few days later going out on her own.  She has not had any accidents in the house and it is safe to say she is housebroken which is a huge step from when she started out, scared and confused.  When Georgia first came into rescue she was very needy and had lots of separation anxiety.  She would howl and bark if her person left the room.  But that is no longer an issue and having other dogs with her has been a game change  and her confidence is growing.

In the beginning, Georgia would not come out of the crate for a day or two.  Now she’s confident and doesn’t go in the crate at all except at night to go to sleep.  She sleeps quietly all night.

Georgia does like to bark at the neighbors dogs when she hears them outside.  She has a good appetite and clears her bowl quickly.  Once she feels comfortable in her home, she enjoys sitting on the lap of the person she trusts.  Georgia was also in a home with a 10 year old little girl who she dearly love and trusted immediately.  So a home with a child who loves and respects dogs would be fine for her.

Georgia is not leashed trained but being so fearful in the beginning, we are taking our time and working on that once she has more confidence.  Georgia does get car sick.  She’s quiet and you think she’s a great traveler only to find out she’s lost her lunch.  We are not sure if that is because riding upsets her stomach or it’s just stress.  Car travel was not something she experienced in her first year and a half.

Georgia’s life has changed so much in such a short time that so many things are new to her.  She is so much better than when she first came into rescue and that hasn’t been that long ago so I trust she will even get better and more confident in time. Georgia will make a great companion for her family and other dogs.

Georgia is located in Southern California. We do not do out of state adoptions.
