Frankie is a sweet, endearing boy with a very big personality! He is energetic and loves to play with toys, especially ones that squeak. His favourite game is tug of war and he also loves running around the house with a toy in his mouth and his foster Dad chasing after him. Frankie is super intelligent and can do a variety of fun tricks including sit, stand, spin, play dead and roll over. He has three very special blankets that he will bite down on for comfort and carry around the house with him everywhere he goes - so entertaining! Frankie is a vocal dog and will make cute little noises when he is excited and wants to play or when he knows he is about to go for a walk. He loves to take short walks around the neighborhood and he also enjoys going out for rides in his car seat.
Frankie does not trust people immediately, you have to earn it. This makes it even more rewarding when you win him over and he suddenly becomes the most affectionate little lap dog, offering endless amounts of love. One of his favourite things to do is to snuggle up on your lap on the couch or in the recliner chair and fall asleep whilst being petted - he could stay like that for hours, soaking up all the cuddles. Frankie is super needy and likes to be around his people, he will follow you around the house and just wants to be near you wherever you are. He is very a loyal companion, loves to be the centre of attention and will always greet you with a very happy, waggy tail.
Frankie is protective over his home and his people. At home, he will bark if he hears a loud noise outside, or if strangers come into the house. On walks, he will bark if a stranger approaches him and his person. His foster parents have been working on training him to be less anxious and his reactivity has gotten better, but this will require continued training if you wish to improve these behaviours. Since he is a barker, I’m not sure he would do well in an apartment.
Frankie does not like to be left home alone for long periods of time, this comes from his previous home almost never leaving him. He needs to go to a quiet house, where his people are home most of the time and where people are not coming and going often, as this would unsettle him. Frankie is housebroken and will go potty in the backyard and on his walks. In his foster home, Frankie sleeps on his own little dog bed, with a blanket, in his foster parent’s bedroom. Frankie is great with other dogs and would love to go to a home where there is another dog to keep him company. There were 2 cats in his previous home and he had no problem with those cats. A home with very young children is not recommended.
Frankie is neutered, up to date on shots and is micro chipped.
