Tawny - Adoption Pending!
Size: 8 lbs
Size: 8 lbs
This little girl is Tawny who was found as a stray by the local shelter. Whether she was on the streets not eating, or didn’t get her share of food at the shelter in a cage with 2 other bigger dogs, Tawny ended up skin and bones. She is enjoying eating regular meals but has shown she is not used to kibble. She just doesn’t know what to do with it. She does well with a good quality canned food with a bit of kibble added in to get her used to it. Tawny gets along with other small dogs and her most favorite place is on someone’s lap. If you are sitting down, she wants to sit with you. She is a very affectionate dog but protective of her food around other dogs. If there are other dogs in the home, she needs to be fed separately.
Tawny is a very tiny girl, possibly part chihuahua. She was apparently trained on potty pads because I’ve been forced to put them down due to rainy weather and she uses them. But she will always potty outside if you go out with her. She has learned to come in the doggie door on her own but will not go out on her own. Everything is new to her so she needs to get used to a home before she will feel comfortable going out on her own.
Tawny has ears that do the craziest things. Sometimes they are down, sometimes they are straight out, and sometimes they are up. Due to the cold weather, and Tawny’s thin size, she enjoys wearing clothes to keep her warm.
Tawny sleeps very well in a crate at night with a small doggie bed and a blanket. She would love to sleep in the big bed snuggled up with her person but if that is not an option, she is happy in the crate.
Tawny is up to date on shots, spayed, and micro chipped.
